Carne Griffiths
Carne Griffiths
Illustrator and painter Carne Griffiths has exhibited in both London and Dubai with West Contemporary. His fascination with incredible intricate drawings means a unique manipulation of the drawn line is produced, as he weaves human, geometric, surreal and floral forms into a dreamlike fresco. Perhaps the most interesting signature of his work is that Carne uses alcohol, tea and other non-traditional mediums to create his artworks, something he has perfected to great success. Working primarily with calligraphy inks, graphite and liquids, he takes the viewer on a journey into figurative abstraction that dances poetically between raw mark-making and highly stylised aesthetic. Carne has exhibited both in the UK and overseas, with work shown at The Royal Academy, multiple art fairs and major solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Milan, Dubai, London and Hamburg.
Carne has also collaborated with leading British photographer Rankin, illustrating a six-page feature in Hunger magazine, and has made forays with his illustration work in VR using their Google Paintbrush as part of a live art event with Peroni & House of Peroni. This collaboration allowed viewers to go below, above, in between and literally walk through one of Carne’s illustrations with a VR head set on.
